Bridging AI and Blockchain: Primitives and Plugins
Week in Review
There has been so much activity in AI in recent weeks that no one big story has taken over, making the news cycle seem relatively tame. The reality is far from that and we will introduce 3 things a week we are paying attention to.
Rapid advancement in text-to-video generative models with tools like Runway.
Mintbase’s next ad is built with Runway so be on the lookout next week and let us know your thoughts.Controversial tactics to train AI.
Apple, Nvidia, and Anthropic used thousands of videos to train AI. Data ownership has always been a key proposition of blockchain and AI is going to help push this narrative going forward. Solving for this is one of the core tenets of Near Foundation's push for User-Owned AI.Demand for AI is surging.
From the latest TSMC sales numbers and release of a new suite of NVIDIA products to Accenture making 2.8 billion from Generative AI, the growth isn’t slowing down. And this opportunity isn’t just for huge corporations building as an individual has never been easier and in today’s newsletter, we are going to reveal some big news on how you can get in on the action.
The Future of Finance
Wouldn't that be nice?
Thanks to smart actions, we're closer than ever to this reality. Smart actions transform complex blockchain operations into a single command. Take for example a ‘portfolio builder’ smart action that references prices and interest rates across dozens of apps in real time to craft the perfect investment strategy based on your goals and timeline.
This example replaces in a few clicks hours spent on building out a plan in a spreadsheet, creating accounts for multiple apps, cross cross-referencing the prices of dozens of instruments. Not to mention future hours spent updating the portfolio.
Building this ‘portfolio builder’ smart action will require an agent that references dozens of tools. These tools are broken into two groups.
Primitives: Basic building blocks used to perform atomic operations such as generating a blockchain transaction or converting hashes to readable text
Plug-ins: Defined via OpenAPI, these handle complex sequences of operations tailored to specific tasks like financial estimations or data analytics.

By integrating these tools, LLMs can interpret user prompts and trigger appropriate actions, making the system both flexible and powerful. This approach allows for continuous expansion of capabilities, enabling efficient execution of sophisticated tasks like DeFi swaps, NFT creation, and financial analytics. If it’s helpful, you can think of primitives as enabling the on-chain executions and plugins as connecting the off-chain data.
Introducing the Developer Playground and Public Registry
For Bitte Wallet to reach its potential users should be able to execute any on-chain transaction they imagine in no more than a few sentences. This is a big job calling for thousands of specialized agents and even more tools. To that end to accelerate the speed to which smart actions are added to Bitte Wallet, we're launching the Developer Playground and Public Registry. Here's how they'll work:
Public Registry: A hub where all wallet-compatible agents and tools are listed. External developers can register their plugins, expanding the wallet's capabilities with diverse tools.
Developer Playground: An experimental space for developers to test and refine their tools, ensuring seamless integration with the wallet and figuring out how to leverage the publicly available tools in the registry.
This registry will enable any project to add their own services directly to the wallet. In addition to the benefits of reaching more customers, projects that add their own agents to the registry will be able to leverage any of the other publicly available tools effectively giving their products new functionality. Until August 31st anyone that submits an agent to the registry that is successfully verified will be entitled to a $3000 bounty.
Wrapping Up
For the rest of the summer, the Bitte team’s focus will be on building out the Registry framework. We want to see as many plug-ins registered as possible as each new tool extends the functionality of every agent. If you’re interested in building a plug-in consider joining our private agent builder community group to get the latest alpha.
And please talk about it to whoever you think might be interested. The future is NEAR.
